Creating the Festival Character
The creative process for Hip Hop Festival Wrocław 2025 began nearly three months before the live event itself.
At the earliest stage of development, the organizer shared the official festival artwork featuring a unique alien illustration created by his talented daughter. The character immediately stood out as emotionally distinctive and visually memorable — perfectly suited to become the central identity of that year’s festival edition.
From the very beginning, the concept naturally evolved into a modern hip hop-inspired character wearing an oversized hoodie, expressive accessories and iconic bling jewelry. The artistic direction instantly resonated with the organizer and became the foundation for the entire cinematic LED visual environment created for the event.

Character Development & Real-Time 3D Workflow
The next stage focused on recreating the illustrated alien as a fully rigged cinematic 3D character inside Unreal Engine while carefully preserving the original texture style, proportions and artistic personality visible in the poster artwork.
After nearly two weeks of production, the character was transformed into a fully animated real-time asset capable of functioning across both giant LED stage environments and social media promotional campaigns.
The entire workflow was designed around cinematic real-time production pipelines, allowing fast iteration, immersive animation workflows and highly dynamic stage-ready visuals optimized specifically for modern LED productions.
Full Body Motion Capture & Facial Animation
A major part of the production pipeline relied on professional full-body motion capture technology used to achieve highly realistic movement and natural stage presence.
Using a professional mocap suit allowed authentic human movement, posture, rhythm and physical performance to be transferred directly into the animated character. The workflow captured subtle body mechanics such as weight shifting, shoulder movement, walking dynamics and natural hand gestures — creating movement impossible to reproduce convincingly through traditional keyframe animation alone.
To further enhance realism and emotional connection with the audience, advanced facial animation and facial mocap workflows were also integrated into the pipeline.
The combination of full-body motion capture and facial performance capture enabled the alien character to reproduce realistic facial expressions, micro mimic reactions, eye movement and subtle emotional behavior with a highly cinematic level of realism.
These small performance details significantly increased the emotional presence of the character both on massive LED screens and within digital promotional content.
Social Media Campaign Integration
During the production process, an additional creative opportunity naturally emerged.
Because the character was already fully animated and production-ready, a series of additional social media promotional videos was proposed to strengthen audience engagement before the festival itself.
The animated alien became part of the event communication, presenting safety information and interacting directly with the audience in a playful and immersive way. The campaign was received extremely positively and helped establish a stronger emotional connection between the audience and the festival long before the live production even began.
Technical Challenges & Simulation Workflows
One of the most technically demanding elements of the project was the realistic simulation of the animated bling jewelry carrying the festival logo.
The chain needed to behave naturally while dynamically reacting to body movement, camera motion and character performance. Achieving believable movement while maintaining readability of the logo during fast cinematic animation became one of the key visual challenges of the project.
After several days of experimentation and advanced cloth simulations using Marvelous Designer workflows, a highly satisfying cinematic result was achieved that added both realism and personality to the character itself.
Final LED Stage Experience
The final stage focused on integrating the complete visual environment with the real stage architecture and live lighting environment.
Planetary environments and portal-inspired compositions naturally became part of the artistic direction, perfectly complementing the futuristic atmosphere of the festival while blending seamlessly with the LED stage setup and live production lighting design.
The final result became much more than standard LED screen content.
It evolved into a complete immersive multimedia branding experience connecting cinematic 3D animation, full-body motion capture technology, facial performance capture, social media storytelling and large-scale stage visuals into one cohesive visual universe designed specifically for live audience engagement.

Result
The final visual environment became one of the key recognizable elements of the festival identity, successfully connecting stage visuals, social media storytelling and audience engagement into one cohesive immersive experience.
The animated alien character quickly became emotionally associated with the festival itself, helping strengthen audience recognition and overall event atmosphere both online and during the live production.
